Or perhaps one of the many people who maybe purchased one investment property and had great plans to build that portfolio but just….got busy?  Then this is the episode for you!

Kaz Young and Lisa Parker talk about taking charge of your property journey by assessing what is holding you back!   You can listen here or download it using your favourite podcast app!

Commitment

  • Recognize that if you want something to happen you will need to take action – it doesn’t happen magically!
  • Ask yourself – Do you want it?  Do you really want it? (WHY?? – tapping into why is usually the key, rather than the actual goal itself)
  • If you decide that you don’t have the motivation to change something then maybe you just don’t really want it, or want it more than other things in your life.  And that’s ok – maybe it’s just not your priority right now.
  • Don’t beat yourself up about it, just acknowledge that you’re not at a point in your life where it’s your priority and be happy moving on!

Time

  • We all have the same amount of time in a day.
  • Life is busy
  • Comes back to priority.  Is it a priority enough for you to make the time?
  • What time can you put into it? Diarise it – put it first
  • Active vs Passive strategies – e.g. no point talking about doing renovation projects if you don’t have anytime to manage them!  Match your strategy to your risk profile, your available time and interest level, your knowledge.

Knowledge

  • Increase your knowledge
  • Surround yourself with knowledgeable people/team
  • Employ experts – such as a buyers agent
  • TAKE ACTION – don’t just sit in the “gaining information stage”

Money

  • Cash
  • Serviceability
  • Increase income
  • Decrease expenses
  • Partner up – money partners, joint venturing

These are all legitimate barriers and many of us can relate to each of these and certainly to some of these barriers more than others.  There are ways to work around them and the biggest question always comes back to:  Do you want it enough to make it a priority?
